Our April film is Wira Pdika (Earth Worm, Company Man) 2005, dir Samarendra Das & Amarendra Das, a shocking tale of pollution and broken promises to those who gave away their land. The film documents resistance movements in Orissa against the commercial exploitation of natural resources and against the displacement of those who have survived on and nurtured these resources for millennia.

The film-maker will be present to introduce the film and answer questions afterwards.

Upstairs in the conference room as usual at 7.30.

Note that this is a follow-up to the event on 18 April when Samarendra Das and Miriam Rose of Foil Vedanta will talk in RISC about the activities of the British-listed mining giant Vedanta Resources in Africa and India.
